Danny Yeo won Best News or Current Affairs Presenter for his A Medical Journey series on Channel U (Mediacorp), produced by August Pictures. It was one of three wins for Singapore on the first day of the Asian Academy Creative Awards with its first virtual presentation ceremony.
Other winners include Best Immersive Award for High, an interactive film by filmmaker Royston Tan and Best Promo or Trailer for August Pictures’ web drama on Mediacorp, The Driver.
In his acceptance speech, Danny said, “Thank you to Asian Academy Creative Awards, this is a dream come true. I wouldn’t be here if not for August Pictures, a big thank you to Wai Thong for trusting me and allowing me to use my given talents, thank you to producer Janesa for giving me new challenges and new perspectives, and thank you to Channel U’s Bee Luan for her positive encouragements. It’s such a privilege to be a current affairs presenter because we are always fully present at the scene, and all we want to do with our efforts is to bring presents to the audience. Congratulations to all National Winners, I hope our countries are very proud of us. Together, let’s continue to tell worthy stories, open up minds, and touch hearts.”
